KU NE RT LO OK PA GE 60 SO CIE TY THE KINDER UNI VISITS KUNERT WELLPAPPE HELPING JUNIOR EXPLORERS BECOME GREAT SCIENTISTS On fi rst consideration it doesn t seem as if thinking in circles is likely to get you very far As the girls and boys at the children s university Kinderuni in Darmstadt learned however going in circles can be a huge step forward The children had been invited to visit the Kunert Group s plant in Biebesheim on 6 June 2018 to fi nd out more about the paper industry as well as environmental protection and sustainability Who would have thought that the paper recycling system allows complete and total recycling of corrugated cardboard During a seminar on the capabilities of corrugated cardboard packaging and its lifecycle these eager students learned this and much more about the resource paper Next the junior researchers explored the plant solving mysteries of corrugated cardboard production and peeking over the shoulders of the plant s employees Once they had grasped the concepts they were also given some hands on experience making dinosaurs out of corrugated cardboard The invitation for the children s university to visit Kunert Wellpappe was an initiative of the Darmstadt branch of the association of the German corrugated cardboard industry VDW
